A foot - complete with five toes - has appeared in the sky over Kent.

The cloud was spotted over Folkestone and has a strikingly similar appearance to a footprint.

The image, set against a blue sky, was taken by Carol Johnson and husband Ray as they walked along the Leas.

Mr Johnson, chairman of the Folkestone Town Team, said: "Here's a picture of a cloud formation you may have spotted in Folkestone the day before the Folkestone Coastal 10k.

"It is rather strange!

"It even has 5 toes!"

Mr Johnson is a well known face in the town; he organises the annual 10k coastal run, the latest being held last weekend.

He has also completed the London Marathon 19 times.

But this is not the first unusual cloud formation spotted above the county.

The 'foot' was captured by Carol Johnson and husband Ray (pictured)

In 2016, a woman captured the astonishing sight of a single cloud in the shape of The Angel of the North over Sandwich Bay.

Ruth Crowley said at the time: "Me, my sister and my mum were in awe, it was such a beautiful sight.

"While the world goes through these dark times, it was just something positive. We were so lucky to spot it."

What appeared to be a face with two eyes appeared in the sky over the Sandhurst Vineyard in Cranbrook last year.

Another strange sight spotted over Deal appeared to show a curled-up hand coming down from the clouds.

A video was taken and the cloud was compared to the 'Hand of God'.

A tunnel of cloud was spotted over the Isle of Grain in 2015 as the dramatic skyline was lit up by a strong sunrise.
