A keen-eyed visitor to the Kent coast spotted what appears to a common dolphin swimming close the harbour.

A video shows the aquatic mammal bobbing above the waves just a few hundred meters from Folkestone Harbour Arm.

It could be seen frolicking in the waters while (Sittin' On) the Dock of the Bay by Otis Redding blared out by nearby speakers.

Common dolphins are known to sometimes come close to the shore to feed, although they are usually found in groups.

The sea creature can be found all over the UK, but are more common to the south and west coastal areas.

They can grow over two and a half metres in length, weigh as much as 150kg and live up to 35 years.

The common dolphin is a protected species in the UK, classified as a priority species under the UK Post-2010 Biodiversity Framework.
