The place isn’t subtle; even if you’re not looking for it at Folkestone Harbour Arm, you’ll find it.
Huge and blue, Big Greek Bus has been serving customers at the foot of the tourist hotspot for almost a decade.
But bosses will serve their last souvlaki and gyros wraps from the converted this weekend to embark on “something very new”.
“The team is ready to embrace a fresh beginning and in the months ahead, Folkestone Harbour will collaborate closely with the founders of the cherished establishment to create a brand-new culinary experience, preserving the essence of their much-loved offerings,” a spokesperson for the Harbour Arm said.
“Exciting changes and tantalizing surprises await the loyal patrons who have supported The Big Greek Bus over the years.”
the firm is remaining tight lipped over its next plan, however, speaking on their Instagram page about the new venture, they say they have had an amazing eight years but now is the time for “something bigger, better and more exciting”.
Meanwhile, the double-decker’s sister unit, The Little Greek Bus, will be opening at a new location at Harbourside Square later this month.
The Little Greek Bus is scheduled to open its doors on October 21.
James Davies, Commercial Operations Manager at Folkestone Harbour said: “Whilst we will be sad to see this iconic feature of our food and drink landscape depart, we are incredibly excited to work with our cherished tenants at The Big Greek Bus to develop something exciting and new for 2024 and beyond”
Bosses at the harbour arm have shared the news on social media with many residents saying they are sad to see the bus is shutting.
“I shall miss seeing the bus on the Harbour Arm,” Mike Howell commented.
Sarah Howarth added: “I love the Big Greek Bus, especially when you could sit upstairs in it to eat your meal.”
“What an iconic monument and what a team as well. Wish them all the best,” Lorcan O’Brien wrote.
The Big Greek Bus will be open Saturday and Sunday, 12pm - 6pm.
