Firefighters were called out to the coastbound stretch of the A20 this morning after a rail replacement bus service caught fire.

Three appliances, one from Dover and two from Folkestone's Blue Watch, in addition to a water unit from Ashford, were called at around 6.40am.

A double-decker Buzzlines bus, bound for Ramsgate, was found alight at the scene, near the Court Wood turnoff towards Dover.

The 12 crew members present worked using compressed air foam for around half an hour to bring the blaze under control.

The fire broke out in the engine compartment of the bus to the rear of the vehicle, causing significant damage through flames and smoke.

The driver, who was the bus's only occupant, was not injured. Police were also in attendance.
