Gun, drugs and stab vest found in car after driver is stopped

Drugs, a stab vest and a gun have been recovered from a car and a man arrested.

Police from Folkestone and Hythe pulled the Ford Focus over this afternoon and performed a roadside drug swipe on the driver.

When they failed the test they are alleged to have attempted to flee before being restrained by officers.

Police say they found a quantity of Class A and B drugs, a stab vest and a gun in the vehicle.

They also included photos of the weapon and the substances found in the car.

The Tweet said: "Driver failed a roadside drug wipe then tried to make off. After being restrained and searched a quantity of Class A and B Drugs, stab vest and this air weapon were found."

A police spokesman said: "Kent Police stopped a car suspected to be uninsured in Cheriton Road, Folkestone at around 6.25pm on Sunday, August 22.

"The driver was reported for driving without insurance and driving otherwise than in accordance with a licence.

"A search of the driver and vehicle resulted in officers recovering quantities of Class A and B drugs and an air-weapon.

"A 23-year-old man from Folkestone was arrested on suspicion of drug-driving, possessing drugs with intent to supply and possession of an imitation firearm. He has since been released under investigation while enquiries continue.
