Emergency crews descended on Folkestone Harbour this afternoon.

Coastguard and the Kent Fire and Rescue Service were summoned at around 4pm after a vessel “suffered a mechanical fault” while in the inner harbour at the town.

A spokesperson said: “The two people on board were both accounted for and there are no reports of injuries.”

Onlookers had feared the worse when teams were spotted at the scene.
