A group of community-spirited football fans have organised a successful collection for a local foodbank this Christmas.

The Folkestone Invicta Noyz Boyz arranged the drop-off of food and other essential supplies ahead of the Folkestone club's FA Trophy tie against Uxbridge on December 18.

Supporters, players and club staff all generously donated towards the appeal, and the much-needed goods were handed over to the Shepway Foodbank today by fans Adam Davidson and Anthony Hassan.

It is hoped further collections will be held before matches at the club's BuildKent Stadium in Cheriton Road in the new year.

Invicta chairman Paul Morgan said: "When I heard about it I thought it would do very well, and it did.

"I hear the Noyz Boyz are looking to do a couple more after Christmas which will be fantastic for the football club and the community.

"I would personally like to thank everyone involved with arranging this and to everyone who donated to a great cause.

"We have a great set of supporters at the club. We as a club are always behind things like this and I am very proud to be part of a fantastic football club."

Invicta beat Uxbridge 2-0, through goals from Josh Vincent and Ade Yusuff, to reach the fourth round of the competition for the first time - setting up a tie away at big-spending National League side Wrexham.

But just hours after the draw was made the prospect of fans being able to see the match was cast into doubt by new Covid-19 restrictions in Wales, which could see the game on January 15 played behind closed doors.
