A 22-year-old woman has been arrested on suspicion of child neglect after a 16-month-old boy fell from a flat window in Folkestone.

Police are investigating after the child fell from the third floor of a building in Tontine Street just before 9.30am on Saturday.

The child suffered injuries to his upper arm and lower leg, the ambulance service confirmed.

At least four police vehicles and two fast response ambulance vehicles were spotted in the area and Jolson’s Party Bar, at the bottom of the street, was taped off.

The air ambulance landed in a car park at the back of Marine Parade and the injured toddler was airlifted to Kings College Hospital in London.

Officers continued to carry out inquiries at the scene.

It is understood that the boy is not believed to have suffered serious or life-threatening injuries, according to the police.

A police spokesman said: “The child did not suffer any serious injuries and was due to be discharged from hospital on Sunday.

“A 22-year-old woman has been arrested on suspicion of child neglect and has been bailed until Friday, June 9.

“The investigation into the incident is continuing.”
