Tontine Street robbery: Armed man threatens staff and takes cash from Folkestone shop

A knifeman who escaped from a shop with cash after a daylight raid in Folkestone is being hunted by police.

Officers were called to Tontine Street this morning to reports of an armed robbery.

The man allegedly walked into the shop between 9.30am and 9.45am threatening staff with a knife and demanding cash from the till.

He left the premises "with a quantity of cash", police said.

He is described as a white man aged in his mid to late teens.

He was wearing a black jacket with the hood worn up over a black baseball cap and also wore grey jogging bottoms with dark footwear and a small grey bag across the body.

Police are hoping to find witnesses who saw the suspect in the area.
