Folkestone: Latest on investigation into shooting of pub landlord Joe Daniels
Published: 00:01, 30 December 2017
Police are still appealing for anyone with any information about the death of a popular landlord to come forward.
It’s now more than a month since Joe Daniels was found shot dead at the Red Cow in Foord Road.
Mr Daniels, 58, was found unresponsive inside the pub on Wednesday, November 22.
Emergency services discovered his body with a gunshot wound alongside a gun and pronounced him dead at the scene.
A funeral was held in Liverpool, where Mr Daniels was from, while two smaller remembrance gatherings took place at the Samuel Peto Wetherspoons and The Ship Inn, The Stade, earlier this month.
Police continue investigations into the shooting, appealing to the public for dashcam footage and to the owner of a white van seen in the area at the time to come forward.
The white Transit-style van was seen parked outside the pub just before the incident happened.
The driver is described as white, heavily built, between 30 and 50 years old, 5ft 10 inches and having short dark brown hair.
Motorists with dashboard cameras who travelled around the pub, which is near the junction of Black Bull Road, between 8am and 11.30am are urged to come forward.
On the day of the shooting officers guarded the pub behind a police cordon with forensics working inside.
Police remained at the site for more than two weeks.
A police spokesman said at the time: “I can confirm that the man suffered an injury consistent with a gunshot and that a firearm has been recovered from the property.”
Detectives are yet to confirm what kind of firearm was recovered or whether DNA testing has unearthed any fresh leads.
Flowers appeared at the cordoned off pub and tributes pour in the day after the incident.
Milena Goff, Mr Daniels’ partner, said she had “no words for this evil person”.
Posting on the Shepway Watch group on Facebook, Ms Goff said: “My heart is broken.
“Why would anyone want to hurt this beautiful man?
“Our future taken I have no words for this evil person who has done this to my beautiful Joe.
“Please if anyone saw or heard anything please contact the police. Our family is broken.”
Anyone with information should call 01843 222289, quoting reference 22-0452, or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
