Coronavirus Kent: Hiker believed to be from London injured at Folkestone's The Warren on day trip

A hiker believed to be from London has been injured while on a day trip to the Kent coast.

The man required lifeboat and coastguard assistance when he sustained a suspected broken ankle during a visit to The Warren in Folkestone this afternoon.

Witnesses say two coastguard vehicles, a lifeboat and police officers attended the scene.

He is said to have admitted to being on a day trip from London to the rescue team.

The Royal National Lifeboat Institution confirmed they had helped the injured man earlier.

A spokesman said: "The team were out today and recovered someone with a suspected broken ankle at The Warren.

"An inshore lifeboat was used to take the man to the Dover RNLI station, where he was found to have a suspected broken ankle."

The ambulance service have been contacted for more information.
