A magpie is in the sky again after a dramatic rescue involving firefighters.

The bird was stuck in netting on the roof of the Lloyds Bank in Folkestone.

Fire crews used the height vehicle from Ashford fire station to release the trapped animal shortly after 5pm yesterday.

Volunteer wildlife rescuers picked up the bird, which was in a good condition, and they released him back into the wild this morning.

Sam Millen and Leigh Mulley were called when firefighters safely brought the bird out of the netting.

"The magpie was successfully recovered very noisily and brought down to be handed over to local wildlife rescuers."

He was said to be in a good condition and "none the worse" following the incident.
