Man arrested after attempted robberies in Cheriton High Street, Folkestone

A man has been arrested following two attempted robberies within five minutes of each other.

The first incident was reported to have taken place in Cheriton High Street, in Folkestone, at 8pm on Monday, January 23.

In this case, the victim was jogging down the road when a man approached him, aggressively demanding money.

The victim refused and was able to leave the area without issue.

The second incident took place five minutes later in the same location where a man in his 60s was walking down the street and approached in a similar way.

Again the victim refused and the suspect left.

An appeal was previously launched to help track down the would-be mugger.

Following an investigation, officers yesterday arrested a 37-year-old man from Folkestone on suspicion of two counts of attempted robbery.

He has since been released on bail until Wednesday, April 26 pending further inquiries.
