Folkestone man arrested after attempting to evade police by escaping on roof of house

A man tried to escape from police by climbing on to the roof of a house.

Police were called to the house in Folkestone in connection with an alleged assault on a woman.

The man, 62, was trying to leave the property in Spring Terrace and scaled the roof to avoid officers.

The incident happened just before 7pm on Friday. It was related to a previous incident of assault during which a woman is said to have suffered facial injuries.

Police said the man was wanted in connection with the alleged assault.

Officers managed to stop the man and he was "safely arrested" at the scene, they said.

He was taken into custody and released on bail until Friday before being released without charge, police confirmed.
