Man charged after incident at Golden Nails in Cheriton High Street

A man has been charged with intentional strangulation and criminal damage after an alleged disturbance at a nail bar.

Police were called to Golden Nails in Cheriton High Street, Folkestone, at about 3.45pm on Thursday following the incident.

It's understood a suspect used a chair to smash the glass in the shop's front door after being asked to leave.

A man was arrested at the scene and sent to hospital for treatment before being taken into custody.

Bobby Wooton, 32, of Chart Road in Folkestone, was charged the following day with criminal damage, burglary, two counts of assault, intentional strangulation and breaching a non-molestation order in connection with the incident.

He was also charged with two counts of criminal damage in connection with an incident on June 9, stalking, which is alleged to have occurred between August 2022 and August 2023, and assault in connection with an incident in November.

Mr Wooton appeared at Folkestone Magistrates’ Court on Saturday where he was remanded in custody.

He is next due to appear at Canterbury Crown Court on Wednesday, September 11.
