Man arrested in Spain following threats to kill people in Folkestone

A man wanted in connection with a report of threats to kill has been arrested in Spain after going on the run.

Daniel Parkes, 43, formerly from Belfast, was detained in Malaga last month, on Wednesday, September 16, after Kent Police secured a European Arrest Warrant.

He was sought in connection with threats made over the phone towards two people in Folkestone in 2013.

Mr Parkes was charged with the offences but failed to appear at Folkestone Magistrates’ Court in July 2015.

Mr Parkes was extradited from Spain to the UK last Friday (October 9) and appeared at Folkestone Magistrates’ Court the next day.

He has since been remanded in custody and is next due to appear at Canterbury Crown Court on Monday, November 9.
