Police appeal after man found with serious injuries near South Street, Folkestone

Police have launched an investigation after a man was found with serious injuries near a Kent harbour.

Officers were called to South Street, Folkestone, at about 8am yesterday after the man was seen walking around the area with injuries to his arm and bruising to his face.

Patrols were pictured guarding the scene in Harbour Street, close to the town’s popular harbour arm.

Four police cars and two ambulances were spotted in the street yesterday where a cordon was put in place.

Officers are now appealing for information following the incident.

A police spokesman said: “Patrols were called to South Street at about 8am due to concerns for the man in his 30s, who was walking around the area with serious injuries to his arm and bruising to his face.

“The man was taken to a local hospital for treatment where he reported having sustained the injuries in Tontine Street.

A cordon was in place in Harbour Street yesterday

“Inquiries are ongoing to establish more around the circumstances, including the time of the incident.

“Detectives want to speak to witnesses and are reviewing all CCTV available in the area.”

The cordon stretched from the London and Paris Hotel to the bottom of the Old High Street but businesses remained open.

By 2.45pm, the cordon had been lifted.
