A man was pulled from his car and stabbed in the early hours of this morning — in the first of two knife attacks.

Police have launched an investigation following the vicious attack in Folkestone at 1.30am.

The victim was in Lower Sandgate Road when a silver car pulled up alongside him.

Two acquaintances then pulled him from his vehicle and assaulted him.

The man, in his 20s, suffered stab wounds.

A cordon has been set up in nearby Harbour Street, with police tape sectioning off the car park and parts of Gillespie's pub.

Blood stains can be seen on the floor.

The attack was the first of two stabbings in Kent today, with another man attacked outside Asda in Ashford at 6.25am.

A police car and forensics van remain on the scene of the Folkestone attack this morning.

The incident has sparked conversation on social media.

One user said: "All of Gillespie's cordoned off, the alleyway to the rear, and the adjacent car park.

"Getting like the wild west out here now."

Another said: "Apparently a car has been taped of in car park and blood on pavement."

Police are now appealing for witnesses to the attack.

A spokesman for the force said: "Witnesses are being sought after a man was assaulted in Folkestone.

"Kent Police was called at around 1.30am where it was reported that a man in his twenties had suffered injuries consistent with stab wounds and had been taken to a local hospital for treatment.

"A silver car is reported to have pulled up alongside the victim’s vehicle where two people, known to the victim, pulled him from his car which was parked in Lower Sandgate Road, and assaulted him.

"Officers continue to carry out enquiries in the area and review CCTV to understand the circumstances of the assault."
