Eurotunnel passengers are facing more delays today because of a problem with a train - two days after Channel Tunnel chaos.

A freight shuttle stopped in the tunnel this afternoon with an "on-board alert" that needed inspecting by engineers.

It was fixed after about an hour by 2.30pm, but car passengers were still suffering one-hour delays at Folkestone.

Eurotunnel said freight services were also waiting for about an hour before check-in and another hour on the terminal.

A spokesman said: "We are sorry for this inconvenience."

It came just two days after Channel Tunnel travellers were hit by severe delays because of a power failure.

Almost 400 passengers had to be evacuated from a Eurotunnel train on Monday morning around a third of the way into the 30-mile tunnel.

They were taken on another service to France and had to wait all day to be ruinited with their vehicles.

However, over-running repair work meant passengers were still suffering long delays until yesterday afternoon.
