McDonald's is expanding its delivery service even further across Kent.

The worldwide fast-food chain will now operate its McDelivery scheme in Ashford and Folkestone.

Uber Eats, which provides the deliveries, is now available in even more restaurants, and customers living within 1.5 miles of the restaurants can now get their favourite menu items delivered straight to their door.

The service is available by ordering through the Uber Eats app.

More than 18 million individual customers have ordered a McDelivery in the UK alone since its launch in 2017.

Franchisee Paul Crocker, who owns and operates the Folkestone and Ashford restaurants, as well as 12 others in the Kent area, said: “My team and I are delighted to be expanding McDelivery in Kent.

"We are always working towards making our customers’ dining experience easier and more convenient – from self-service kiosks and table service to McDelivery I’m excited we’re constantly changing to meet our customers’ needs.”

There are three restaurants in Ashford - at Orbital Park, Eureka Park and the town centre.

There was previously a store at the Ashford Designer Outlet, but bosses decided not to return amid suggestions they did not want to pay a higher rent proposed by outlet chiefs as part of the site's £90m expansion, opening in autumn.

In Folkestone, there are two branches - one on Park Farm industrial estate and one in the town centre.

The service first launched in Kent in Canterbury in 2017.

The news comes after celebrity TV presenter Rylan Clark-Neal recently visited the Ashford Orbital branch to film a viral social media campaign.
