A motorcyclist and van have crashed in a busy village high street this morning.

The incident took place at around 7am on the A259 Sandgate High Street.

A man, the rider of the motorcycle, was taken to hospital with minor injuries.

The crash happened near The Crescent with traffic said to be coping well and clearing by 9.30am.

A spokesman for the ambulance service said one ambulance crew attended the scene and gave the treatment at the scene.

He was taken to the William Harvey Hospital with minor injuries, South East Coast Ambulance Service said.
