A mum from Hawkinge is pleading for help in finding a year’s worth of work stolen from her car on her drive.
Single mum Kelly Golding, of Hunt Close, who is planning to go to university this autumn, said she heard her car alarm going off and heard the thief running off down the road.
She is desperate for the return of the work in a white canvas bag with a black K printed on it along with her purse which were taken from her Volkwagen Polo.
Police are now investigating the incident, which happened at around 8pm on Wednesday.
But the Ashford College student, who has two boys aged seven and nine, says she cannot complete her law, pyschology and sociology studies to go to university without the work.
Kelly said: “I heard my car alarm go off at around 8pm and saw someone running off and heard their footsteps and saw my passenger door wide open.
"Without all that paperwork I will not pass the course. Keep the purse, any money or gift cards that are in it but please get my other stuff back to me..." Kelly Golding
“I don’t know how they got into it. I live in the end of a cul-de-sac with no one around which almost makes it worse. It was locked and on my drive and is just a bag full of paperwork. I imagine it was opportunistic.
“It’s a really intense course and is only nine months long. I was at college the day after and just couldn't concentrate and got to the stage of how am I going to do it again?
“I spoke to my lecturers and said they will do all they can to help. But it’s a portfolio based one and you have to provide evidence of your work so without that there’s not a lot they can do.
She plans to study for a degree in criminology at either the University of Kent or Canterbury Christ Church University.
“Without all that paperwork I will not pass the course I’m doing to get there," Kelly added.
"Keep the purse, any money or gift cards that are in it but please get my other stuff back to me.”
A police spokesman said: “Kent Police is investigating a theft which took place in Hunt Close, Hawkinge, at sometime between 7.30pm and 8.20pm on Wednesday, March 11 in which several items were taken from a green VW Polo.
“Anyone with information about the theft is asked to contact Kent Police on 01303 289140 quoting reference ZY/7402/15.”
