A pensioner was taken to hospital after being hit by a car which failed to stop at the scene.

Police are appealing for anyone with information to come forward after the woman in her 70s was seriously injured in Folkestone on Monday.

Between 10am and 10.50am she was walking along Sandgate Road before trying to cross near the junction with Cheriton Place.

While crossing she was hit by a small car described as grey, silver or light blue.

Police revealed the car didn't stop at the scene and the woman was taken to hospital for medical attention.

Investigating officer PC Emma Todd said: "We are making inquiries to identify the driver and are appealing for anybody who saw the incident, or has information that may assist our investigation, to call us.

"Any drivers who were in the area at the time and may have dashcam footage is also asked to contact the appeal line."
