Who said Christmas miracles don’t happen?

Pam Forrest is certainly a firm believer in the magic of the festive season after her little chihuahua survived three days and nights out wandering on the North Downs.

When two-and-a-half-year-old Chilli went missing in Hythe on the evening of Sunday, December 14, Pam feared she would never see her dog again.

But by an amazing stroke of luck, the pair have now been now reunited in time for Christmas after a driver noticed Chilli on the side of the road in Elham on Wednesday last week – SEVEN miles away from where she disappeared.

Pam said: “I thank all the people, and there were dozens of them, who helped look for her. I’m so grateful and I thank them from the bottom of my heart.

“Volunteers who didn’t even know us were out looking.”

In last week’s paper we reported her heartfelt plea for help to find Chilli after she went missing from the Tanner’s Hill area of Hythe.

Pam said: “My real thanks go to Jenny. She was driving home and just found her wandering along a country road.

“She’s a dog lover herself and has two little Yorkies.

“It was just by chance that Chilli still had her collar on, so Jenny wrapped her up in the dog blankets in her car and took her home and phoned me.

“When Jenny said she had found her by the side of the road I thought she meant her body and that she’d been hit by a car or something.

"I really didn’t think I’d see her alive again, so she’s mummy’s little Christmas miracle."

“I don’t drive so I then phoned JJ Taxis because they are a dog-friendly company and I had put a poster up in their office.

“She was ravenously hungry and dehydrated, but other than that she’s in pretty good nick.

“It’s a miracle she survived and she must have found some shelter.

“I did say she’s an intelligent little dog with boundless energy.

“I really didn’t think I’d see her alive again, so she’s mummy’s little Christmas miracle.”

She has had Chilli for seven months after being rehomed from the breeders.

A social media campaign launched by friends was shared dozens of times to help find her.
