New pictures have emerged showing the charred remains of a fire-hit Morrisons store.

All shelving from inside the Cheriton Road shop in Folkestone has now been removed - months after a deep fat fryer blaze tore through the building in November.

Last month, the retailer launched plans to demolish the store and replace it with a state-of-the-art shop of roughly the same size.

A decision on the plan is yet to be made.

The building in Cheriton Road went up in flames on the morning of Thursday, November 8.

More than 50 firefighters battled the blaze at its peak but fortunately there were no injuries.

Within a month of the fire, a temporary store opened on the car park and will remain open until the replacement store is built.

Customers will enter through a large glazed entrance in the replacement store, with the internal layout redesigned with wider aisles.

Market Street counters will make a return including the butcher, baker and fishmonger alongside a new café.

Construction could start as early as summer if plans are approved.
