Pupils sent home early after power cut hits Folkestone Academy

Hundreds of pupils had to be sent home early this afternoon after a school was hit by a power cut.

The outage hit Folkestone Academy earlier today and while engineers worked on site to restore power the majority of students had to leave the site from 2.40pm.

Year 7 pupils remained at the school in the sports hall until parents could collect them or it reached 3.30pm when they could be allowed to go home.

According to a post shared on Facebook, school bosses expect they will be able to open the campus as normal tomorrow.
