Bin collection days, routes and times are expected to change across three towns.
Residents living in Folkestone, Hythe and Romney Marsh are being warned ahead of the changes, which come into play next week.
Some residents may experience both a day and a week change.
It comes as Folkestone and Hythe District Council (FHDC) and Veolia work together to "make collections more streamlined and reliable".
This includes adjusting some of the routes that the waste vehicles use to make them more efficient.
These new route amendments - the first significant change to the service in a decade - will mean the service is smarter and greener, the authority says.
Residents will be able to check how the changes will affect them in a waste calendar that will arrive in the post by Friday (May 7).
To ensure a smooth transition into the new service, some households will receive one-off additional refuse collections to bridge the gap between old and new schedules.
During this transition, the maximum wait between refuse collections will be 17 days (three days longer than usual).
An FHDC spokesman said: "A more efficient and sustainable service is what we’re aiming for and these route changes will help us get there.
"We want to try and make this switch as smooth as possible, that’s why we’ve sent out both a letter and a calendar to remind people about the changes.
"We appreciate that for some people potentially changing their bin collection time, day or week is a significant change and we want to thank you in advance for your patience and cooperation."
There will be no changes to containers, or the materials that can be collected in each container.
Bins can be collected any time between 7am and 5pm on your collection day.
The collection changes will take affect from next Monday (May 10).
