A secondary school is closing early to give its pupils and staff time to travel home safely.
The Folkestone Academy in Academy Lane, Folkestone, has announced that youngsters can go home from 3.30pm after some endured journeys of more than three hours this morning.
Head teacher Warren Smith said: "We are aware that many children and staff endured long journeys of over three hours this morning.
"We thank you for your determination.
"Although the snow is expected to abate, it is important to us that everyone travels home safely and in good time before the temperature drops significantly.
"Buses will not arrive until 5pm and so we are happy to supervise children for as long as parents require us to.
"We will assume you are happy for your children to be released unless we hear otherwise.
"If you would like us to supervise your children, please call reception by 2.30pm."
Those collecting their children by car have been warned of potential congestion around the site and that parking at nearby Sainsbury's may be easier.
