Folkestone murder: Seven arrested after Steve Holton found dead near harbour

Seven people have now been arrested by detectives investigating a murder in Folkestone.

Officers made three more arrests today after the death of Steve Holton on Friday night.

Mr Holton, 54, was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics after being called to the harbour area.

Police are referring to the incident as a "suspicious death" after he was found with serious injuries near the harbour wall.

A 28-year-old man, 24-year-old woman and 25-year-old man are all being questioned in custody as part of the investigation by officers from the Kent and Essex Serious Crime Directorate.

All three of them are from the Folkestone area.

A 26-year-old man from the town and a 27-year-old woman from Dover are still being held on suspicion of murder.

This follows the first two arrests made initially after the incident outside the Royal George pub by the harbour at 2.24am on Saturday.

The men, aged 56 and 37, were released without charge pending further inquiries.

The other five still remain in custody but no charges have been made yet.

Detectives are still looking for witnesses to come forward.

Police say the victim’s next of kin have been informed and inquiries into the circumstances around the incident are ongoing.
