Grab your toys and head to the Silver Screen cinema to help raise money to save it from closing.
The ‘Bigger Picture’ screening of Toy Story 3 at 10am tomorrow morning is on the back of the screening of The Artist last month which raised over £3,000.
It is hoped that the cinema will be completely full of children, parents and their toys with a special panorama shot of the audience in the main screen taking place.
Film fan Tom Langlands set up a petition to raise awareness of the predicament of the cinema - which needs to find £100,000 to fund new digital projection equipment. Over 3,000 people signed it and Folkestone Town Council has offered some of the money to fund the new equipment.
But that was rejected by Silver Screen bosses at the end of March saying they were “uanble to accept the offer” adding it “prohibits us from fulfilling our plans to update and develop the cinema”.
Just a handful of tickets remain for the morning’s showing, they cost £2 and can be booked from thefolkestonian.ticketsource.co.uk
All the proceeds will go to the cinema with a collection for the Demelza Children’s Hospice.
