A train came to a stop in one of the tunnels run by Eurotunnel causing delays for passengers this morning.

The firm tweeted passengers to say a tunnel inspection was in progress and the train which stopped earlier is now moving.

Delays of around two hours have built up, but operators are advising passengers with bookings to head to their booked departure and await further instructions.

In Folkestone departures are operating to time, but in Calais delays have built up to more than four hours - a wait of three hours to check-in and 90 minutes on the terminal.

Some passengers have been told this is because of extra security, due to tensions over a planned blockade of the French port on Monday, in protest over the large migrant camp known as The Jungle.

Eurotunnel is unable to sell tickets to people who don't have a reservation on the French side of the tunnel.
