They were fished out and the owner was traced, and police discovered she was in the process of reporting that her purse was taken earlier that day while gardening work was being carried out at her property in Blenheim Drive.

The next day a 35-year-old man, of no fixed address, was arrested on suspicion of burglary, fraud by false representation, possession of cannabis and theft.

He was released on bail until December 3 pending further enquiries.
