Fire at building site on Pond Hill Road in Folkestone, Taylor Wimpey development at Shorncliffe Heights

Investigators believe a fire at a housing development may have been deliberately started.

Firefighters were called to a building site fire in Pond Hill Road, Folkestone - near the Shorncliffe Heights estate - at about 8.30pm yesterday.

Three fire engines attended and crews used hose reel jets to extinguish the flames.

Kent Fire and Rescue Service said the fire involved construction materials alight while “the cause is being treated as suspicious”.

The extent of the damage caused has also not been confirmed.

There were no reported injuries and crews finished at the scene shortly after 10pm.

It has not yet been confirmed if any arrests have been made or suspects identified.
