Officers searched the area following the alleged attack and arrested the pair in the park - near to Folkestone Central station and the town's Royal Victoria Hospital.

A spokesman for the ambulance service said paramedics were called to an incident outside a shop in Sandgate Road.

They added: "We responded to reports of an assault and one patient injured.

"We sent one ambulance car and one ambulance crew.

"He suffered a wound under his arm. He was treated at the scene and taken to the William Harvey Hospital [in Ashford].

"It doesn't suggest any life-threatening injuries. But the injury was serious enough to warrant hospital treatment."
