A new food and drink market has launched at popular tourist spot Folkestone Harbour Arm.

The Goods Yard will see a collection of traders move into a new, more sheltered outdoor space on the Harbour site so that visitors can enjoy the food without "having to weather the wind and waves".

Traders will include The Taco Shed, Moules Frites, Mr Grillski, The Little Greek Bus, Coffee Folkes, Go Dutch and Harbour Hotdogs.

The Goods Yard opened for the first time over the weekend and will be open 12pm to 9pm on Saturdays and 10am to 5pm on Sundays.

Covid-19 policies have been introduced to keep people safe, including social bubble seating, ordering through an app and a one way system.

A spokesman for the Harbour Arm said: "Like many, we had a slow start this year, but it’s been so good to see many of you enjoying the Harbour Arm over the summer months.

"But, as a predominantly outdoor venue, we would usually begin to slow things down as the cooler weather draws in.

"But we want to make up for lost time.

That’s why we’re proud to announce something new; The Goods Yard.

"All your favourite traders will be moving into a new, more sheltered outdoor space on the Harbour site so you can continue to enjoy our quality food and drink without having to weather the wind and waves.

"Get ready for brand new menus with some old favourites and fresh surprises.

"Whether you’re joining us for lunch or dinner, come hungry and don’t forget to dress up warm."

The Harbour Arm re-opened in 2015 following a multi million pound refurbishment project at Folkestone seafront.

This included upgrading the Harbour Station, signal box and walkway over the viaduct.

It is now a popular spot for visitors and residents and hosts live music, bars, food and special events over the summer months .

There is also a market and it is home to the Harbour Screen outdoor cinema.

This year, due to Covid-19, the outdoor cinema was transformed into a drive-in .

It will continue over the Autumn and upcoming films include The Adams Family, Shaun of the Dead and Hocus Pocus, plus a special screening on Halloween which has yet to be announced.

A spokesman added: "We're over the moon that we can announce that the Folkestone Harbour Screen will be returning over the Autumn months.

"Our Drive-In experience proved to be a popular, safe way to bring entertainment back to the Harbour Arm during the Summer.

"As the colder weather sets in and the days become shorter, we're delighted to be bringing it back."
