A car piled into a lorry parked on the slip road of the M20 this morning leaving a man with head injuries.
The crash caused traffic to come to a standstill around Folkestone following the smash on the junction 13 Londonbound entry slip road shortly before 6.30am.
The man driving the car, who was the only person in the vehicle, was rushed to hospital with head injuries.
Several lorries were parked up on the slip road overnight and a witness said the car had gone into the back of one.
The problem is mounting despite Operation Stack not being in force.
Witness Mark Steeple said: "It's not even in Operation Stack and they are parked up. I was arriving just as they were putting the cones out.
"The car was on the slip road trying to get on and they've just gone straight in to the back of it.
"It looks like the passenger side that was stuffed in. I don't know but if there was a passenger they're probably seriously injured."
Mr Steeple, who was on his way to catch a train to Crewe, said it was an accident waiting to happen due to the number of lorries parking up nose to tail on motorway slip roads.
He added he is constantly reporting trucks parked up and reversing on the M20 around Ashford and Folkestone to police but says they are not being moved on.
An ambulance and one ambulance car were sent to the scene.
A Secamb spokesman said: "There were injuries to the driver of the car who was a man aged in his 50s. He suffered injuries including head but taken into as a priority to William Harvey Hospital.
"Head injuries need further checks but was on a backboard and stretcher for other suspected injuries."
Police confirmed a car was involved in a collision with a lorry.
Delays were reported around Cherry Garden Avenue, Cheriton Road, Beachborough Road.
Recovery vehicles were on the scene to take the vehicles away and the road reopened at 8.50am.
