Two suspects were arrested and drugs were seized during a police operation in Folkestone.

A team of police officers, some in uniform with a police dog, others in plain clothes, patrolled the town as part of work to deter violent crime.

Seven people were stopped and searched following work by police dog Max, leading to the seizure of a lock knife and cannabis and one person receiving a cannabis warning.

Plain clothes officers meanwhile observed suspicious activity in Broadmead Road, leading to the seizure of suspected Class A drugs.

A man in his 40s and a teenage boy were arrested on suspicion of possessing drugs with intent to supply and have since been released pending further inquiries.

The day's activity was part of County Lines Intensification Week, a national campaign to tackle drugs networks and took place on Friday October 15.

Properties previously identified as having been used by county lines networks were also visited to ensure no criminal activity was taking place.

PC Katie Garcia, of Folkestone community safety partnership, said: "We are committed to disrupting and preventing violent and drug-related crime in Folkestone and operations like this help us gather intelligence and deter those who would do harm to others.

"I hope our proactive, visible and covert actions during this day show that we are ready to tackle criminality in Folkestone wherever we find it."
