Two men have been cut free by firefighters and rushed to hospital after a serious crash in Folkestone.

Emergency crews were called to Black Bull Road at 10.15am following the smash between the car and the van towing a trailer.

There are two fire engines on the scene by the Black Bull pub close to the Downs Road junction, with police and three ambulance vehicles also in attendance.

Crews were stabilising the car to allow them to cut free the trapped victims using hydraulic rescue equipment.

The car involved is a silver Peugeot which is believed to have hit a trailer which was carrying a log cutter.

The condition of both men is still unclear.

Ambulance spokesman Rich Airey said: "We were called at 10.15am reporting a collision by the chemists. We sent one car and two ambulances to the scene.

"I don't have anything on the nature of the injuries with nothing to suggest how serious they are or if they are life threatening.

"But the two were taken to William Harvey Hospital and both arrived around half an hour ago (11.20am)."

Traffic is currently backing along the road and the best route to avoid is to use Dover Road and out of town through Park Farm.
