Thousands turned out to either take part in or watch Folkestone’s 20th Charivari Festival parade.

Saturday’s noisy and colourful event saw hundreds of school children, teachers and members of community groups whistle and drum their way from The Stade, through the town centre to The Leas cheered on by big crowds.

The Strange Cargo organised event first lined Folkestone's streets in 1996 and has been an annual hit ever since.

This year’s theme was Vintage Seaside – including Punch and Judy, Mods and Rockers and many other seaside characters putting in an appearance.

The colourful parade will left The Stade at 2pm and made its way up The Old High Street, through the town centre precinct and joined The Leas at West Terrace.

From there, the people in the parade danced their way towards the bandstand, where the music programme ran until the late afternoon.
