Bomb squad attend Kings Road, Folkestone following discovery of suspected wartime munition

A suspected wartime bomb was discovered in an alleyway this morning.

The bomb squad descended on Kings Road, in Folkestone, after the device was found at 11.15am down the walkway.

Officers from Kent Police were also in attendance and the road was closed while the Explosive Ordnance Disposal Experts investigated.

They have now removed the suspected wartime munition.

It is understood buses were directed away from the area during the incident.

A spokesman for Kent Police said: "We was called at 11.15am on Monday, September 9 to a report of a suspected wartime munition found down an alleyway near Kings Road in Folkestone.

"Officers attended the scene and a cordon was set up as a precaution.

"Explosive Ordnance Disposal Experts attended and safely removed the device."
