A woman was taken to hospital with a head injury and a fractured leg after plunging down a flight of 10 steps in Folkestone yesterday.

Emergency services were called to a house in Dover Road after the woman, in her 30s, fell down a flight of external steps at around 4.35pm.

Paramedics assessed and treated the woman at the scene before taking her to William Harvey Hospital, in Ashford.

Two cars and an ambulance from South East Coast Ambulance Service were backed up by the Hazardous Area Response Team.

A SECAmb spokesman said: "She sustained a head injury and fracture to her leg and was assessed and treated at the scene. She was taken to William Harvey as a priority and was fully conscious."

A Kent Police spokesman confirmed officers attended as a woman fell from the stairs leading to the front door, over the stairwell railings to the basement at the front of the property.
