Witnesses are sought after a man covering his face demanded money from a woman carrying cash in Guildhall Street, in Folkestone

Police are appealing for witnesses after a man covering his face threatened to punch a woman during an attempted robbery in Folkestone.

An employee for a secure cash collection company was walking back to the van after collecting money from a business in Guildhall Street when she was approached by a man.

The offender, who had a jumper around his head to conceal part of his face, demanded the cash container she was carrying and threatened to punch the woman unless she handed it over.

Police were called after a foiled robbery attempt in Guildhall Street, Folkestone

The man however backed off once the container had been placed on the ground.

Police are now appealing for information about the incident on Tuesday, October 22 at around 4.11pm.

The offender is described as white, aged his 30s and around 5ft 8ins in height.

He had short brown hair and was wearing a dark coloured jumper, red and white striped t-shirt and blue jeans.
