Children from Folkestone performed the Westminster Wig Wiggle this week raising money and awareness for children’s cancer charity CLIC Sargent.

Pupils from the Folkestone Academy were invited to Westminster on Monday to perform the dance they invented as part of the charity’s nationwide fundraising event, Wig Wednesday, which is held in May.

Last year the school raised £550 for CLIC Sargent by doing the dance in school.

This week, a group of nine children wiggled their way through Westminster and visited number 10 Downing Street where they were met by Folkestone and Hythe MP Damian Collins.

They performed the dance outside the Houses of Parliament to raise money and awareness for the Wig Wednesday fundraising day which will be on May 20.

Folkestone Academy headteacher Warren Smith said: “We are immensely proud to have been chosen to support CLIC Sargent in launching their new campaign.

"CLIC Sargent does a wonderful job supporting children, young people and their families and we are extremely proud to have made a small contribution.

"They attracted a great deal of attention from onlookers, and I’m sure their new video will draw the same focus to CLIC Sargent’s wonderful cause.”
