DETECTIVES have appealed for information after two elderly women were mugged in separate incidents outside Sainsbury's in Town Walk in Folkestone town centre.

The first incident occurred on Friday, December 27, at about 9.45am. An 80-year-old woman was approached as she left the store. A man grabbed her handbag from her shopping trolley and ran off at speed.

At 5.40pm on Saturday, December 28, an 81-year-old woman struggled with a man who tried to grab her handbag. She was pushed to the ground but the offender ran off empty-handed.

In both incidents the offender was described as a white male, aged around 20, and approximately 6ft tall.
