A man remains in police custody this morning after he was arrested on suspicion of being drunk and disorderly outside a train station.

Officers were called by British Transport Police at 7.30pm last night to reports of a man, from Ashford, who had collapsed at the Central Station in Folkestone.

The ambulance service also attended.

One eyewitness said that there were two ambulances along with several police cars, all of which had flashing lights and sirens blaring.

Rich Airey, the spokesman for the ambulance service, said: "One ambulance crew attended the scene following reports a man was unconscious.

"The man didn’t require hospital treatment and the incident was left in the hands of the police."

A police spokesman said this morning: "A 54-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of being drunk and disorderly. He is still in police custody."
