A man arrested after police were called to reports of an assault on New Year’s Eve has been released without charge.
Officers were dispatched to The Leas in Folkestone shortly before midnight on December 31 and a woman in her 40s was taken to a London hospital with a serious head injury.
A 53-year-old man, who police said was known to the woman, was arrested in connection with the incident and taken into custody.
Today a Kent Police spokesman said: "Following inquiries, the incident is no longer being treated as suspicious and the man was released without charge."
Following the incident in which the woman was hurt, police taped off a section of the cliff-top path and the New Year's Day Folkestone parkrun had to be re-routed.
