Boxes from a stolen medical van have been found in Surrey.

The NHS Ford Connect van was stolen from on Monday as its driver made a delivery to the from the Central surgery, Cheriton Road, Folkestone. A passer-by found the items at Mitcham, in the borough of Murton.

As well as having potentially hazardous material on board, the van was also carrying information about patients.

A spokesman for the East Kent Hospital’s NHS Trust said staff will open the containers later with the help of scientific experts.

He said: “Until we know what exactly is in there, we have to be very careful”.

The van operates as part of a twice daily service between William Harvey Hospital in Ashford and surgeries in Shepway.

Its registration number is GK56 OGU and it has blue East Kent Hospitals NHS Trust lettering on the front, back and side.
