Lionhearted swimmers braved a yellow weather warning of snow for a quick dip in sea.

The annual Boxing Day dip in Sunny Sands beach, Folkestone was another huge success.

Organised by the Folkestone Lions Club, fundraisers were challenged to swim in the ice-cold waters to raise money for charity.

The met office issued a yellow weather warning on the morning of the dip saying parts of Kent could be in for snow.

Among the swimmers was 69-year-old Len Bunn who took the title as the oldest dipper as the day.

At just four years old, Darci Beazley needed her Dad's help to become the traditional event's youngest dipper.

Steve Lowe, spokesman for the Lions Club, said: "It went extremely well this year, we are very pleased. It was very well attended and we had a lot of people there to cheer the swimmers on.

"We were very fortunate because it was a very pleasant day and the tides were at the best possible time for people to come out.

"Half of the money raised goes to the dippers charity of choice and last year we subsidised 52 charities, which was fantastic.

"We are still counting up the sponsorships and buckets of how much we've raised this year but it's looking great.

"It's a brilliant event every year with a great cause and well done to all our dippers."
