Luckily nobody passed out when Tinie Tempah surprised youngsters in Folkestone.

The double Brit winner was visiting the town offering help and advice to young people involved in the National Citizenship Service programme run at the Folkestone Youth Project.

As part of the scheme held at The Shed they have been organising a community project - a music gig - which Tempah chose because of his music background.

The 'Pass Out' and 'Earthquake' star took questions before meeting individuals and posing for several selfies.

The NCS scheme involves 16 and 17-year-olds taking time out during their summer holidays focused around fun and discovery.

In Folkestone, it is run by charity Catch22 which helps guide the teenagers through a series of experiences to develop their leadership, teamwork and communication skills.

Throughout the day acts were preparing for a show held last night.

Tempah said: "I’m really proud to show my support for National Citizen Service and to see first-hand the courage of the region’s talented youngsters to step outside of their comfort zone, to spend part of their summer away from home, make friends from all walks of life, understand the needs of their community and take an active role in helping to address them.

"Saying yes to new experiences can be incredibly daunting – but it can also change lives.

"By taking part in NCS, this group of teenagers is challenging their own limits and seizing control of their future.

"Following the event today, I hope that many more young people are inspired to take part in NCS."

He signed a message on a graffiti-style painting saying #teamworkmakesthedreamwork.

Carina Hutchinson, who has taken part in the scheme in Folkestone, said: "Experiencing living away from home has given me the opportunity to grow in independence and the chance to meet some amazing new people. I’d recommend it to anyone."

She added it was amazing to have met Tempah and was really shocked when he walked in.
