RESIDENTS are being warned not to leave their front doors open while they are gardening at the back after a burglary in a Kent town.
An elderly couple were in their garden in Turketel Road, Folkestone, on Thursday morning when thieves entered their home through the front door and stole cash and bank cards.
The burglary took place between 1am and 11.30am. Tow boys, aged around 12 and 14, were seen nearby.
PC Richard Lester said: "We would urge people who are out in their garden to ensure they lock their front doors and close windows.
"Also, if you’re out in your front garden, lock the back door and close windows at the back.
"Thieves love this time of year and will take advantage of you when you’re enjoying your garden during the summer."
